WWII NEWS - MESSERSCHMITT BF-109 FOUND IN DUTCH WATER, IJSSELMEER

The Netherlands, October 7, 2012

Sport divers have found large parts of a German WWII fighter aircraft in the Dutch IJsselmeer earlier this week. The BF-190 was found when the sport divers where looking for a Hudson aircraft from the RAF that also disappeared in the IJsselmeer during WWII.

After the discovery of the German fighterplane discovery the Dutch army lifted several large pieces of the aircraft from the bottom of the water. Weapons an ammunition were also secured. The army has done so to prevent pieces of the aircraft from disappearing. The army will now attempt to discover the identity of the aircraft. No human remains were found during the search.
